Maritime Self-Defense Force: “Hakugei” launched: 3000-ton type submarine

Maritime Self-Defense Force:

The naming and launching ceremony of the state-of-the-art submarine was held on October 14th at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Kobe Works.

It was named “Hakugei”.

The launching ceremony of the submarine at the Kobe factory is the 30th since the war since “Toryu” in November 2019.

Hakugei:

It will be the successor to the main submarine Soryu type.

It is the second state-of-the-art Taigei-class submarine.

Overall length 84 meters and overall width 9.1 meters,
The depth is 10.4 meters
0.1 meters larger than the Soryu type.

This will be the JMSDF’s largest submarine.

Standard drainage
3000 tons, 50 tons more than the Soryu type.

The construction cost is about 72 billion yen.
The crew is about 70 people.
The shaft output is 6000 horsepower.

The speed has not been announced.

It will be a diesel-electric propulsion type normal powered submarine.
