A model of iron manganese oxide fine particles with a size of 10,000 times produced with a 3D printer
Oceanic Organization: Discovery of “micro manganese grains” from seafloor sediments – oxide microparticles with a diameter of several micrometers
~ “Manganese equivalent to terrestrial manganese deposit” exists under the seafloor ~
Point of presentation
◆ “Micro manganese grain”: discovered that iron manganese oxide microparticles with a diameter of several microns were present in the marine sediment
◆ Small manganese grains as a whole contain several trillion tons of manganese, several billion tons of rare earths
◆ Based on the establishment of technology to separate specific fine particles, the basic technology of fine particle analysis
Future prospects
In this study, we have found that fine manganese grains exist in the sediment environment in a wide range of the open ocean by establishing basic technologies to analyze unknown metal fine particles buried under the deep ocean bottom of the open ocean,
From that number, it was revealed that a large amount of manganese is buried in the state of fine particles under the seafloor as a whole.
