Indonesia sales,production: GAIKINDO,  results in 2018 – growth for the third consecutive year

Indonesia Automobile Manufacturers Association (GAIKINDO) announced

In 2018 Indonesia domestic

Unit sales were 1,151,291 units (up 6.6% from the previous year)

Production volume was 1,343,714 units (10.4% increase over the previous year)

Both sales and production grew for the third consecutive year.

Unit sales by brand (see Table 1)

First place: Toyota’s 352,161 units (down 5.2% from the previous year)

Second place: Daihatsu’s 202,738 units (up 8.8% from the previous year)

3rd place: Honda’s 162,170 units (down 13.2% from the previous year)

Mitsubishi Motors, a major hit in minivans: 142,861 units (79.0% increase from the previous year)

Share of Japanese brands: 97.5%

Started operations in 2017, two Chinese manufacturers

Woulin performed well with 17,002 units,

DFSK stays at 1,222 units.

Number of units sold by category (see Table 2)

Passenger cars grew by 3.6% year-on-year at 874,660 units

Commercial vehicles increased by 17.6% at 276,631 units, a significant increase

For the presidential election on April 17, 2019 truck sales increased sharply by 27.5%.

Production volume by category (see Table 3)

Passenger cars increased by 7.5% over the previous year at 1,055,774 vehicles,

Commercial vehicles increased by 22.9% at 287,940 units

Completed car (CBU) overseas export in 2018

Daihatsu, Toyota, Mitsubishi Motors and Suzuki are driving exports

It increased by 14.4% to 264,553 units.
