India: Made in China 118 apps ban: Border dispute pressure

Indian Government:

On September 2, it announced that it will ban 118 new mobile apps.

It has increased pressure on Chinese technology companies since the conflict with China over the border.

118 apps:

Most of the target 118 apps belong to Chinese companies.

China’s Tencent game “Player Unknowns Battlegrounds (PUBG)”,

Chinese Baidu app,

Share save for Xiaomi Group <1810.HK>,

Etc. are also included in the prohibited items.

Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology

“The app illegally collects and shares data, leaking personal data and user information. It could be a major threat to India’s national security,” the statement said.

He said it would damage India’s sovereignty and integrity.

Tengxiang Holding declined to comment.

No immediate comment was received from the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi.

After the June collision:

India is targeting Chinese companies that dominate the domestic Internet market.

First of all, 59 apps such as “TickTok”, which is a post application for byte dance, are prohibited.

Since then, 47 mobile apps such as Xiaomi Group and Baidu have been banned.
