Egypt: 6 stations open, Cairo Subway Line 3: President Elshisi

On August 16, I attended the Cairo Subway Line 3 Opening Ceremony held in Cairo city.

Cairo Subway Line 3:

An important line connecting Cairo city and Cairo International Airport.

3 out of 10 stations are already open.

Cairo International Airport station and 6 other stations are under construction.

Cairo Subway Lines 1 and 2:

Currently, Cairo subway lines 1 and 2 are in operation.

In addition to the Egyptian government budget, EBRD’s funding is 50%.

Vehicles were ordered by three Japanese companies.

Lines 1 and 2 are also being extended.

Line 4 is planned:

The planned line 4 has already signed a loan agreement with the Japanese government in 2012.

Construction of 16 stations (about 17km) connecting the center of Cairo to the Pyramid district is planned.

Cairo Subway:

Before the New Corona Era, about 3 million passengers were used per day, the Transport Minister explained.

With a population of 100 million, Cairo, the center of the population, will continue to develop subways.
