On July 21, it announced that it had prosecuted two Chinese men for “suspicion of conducting espionage against a US company researching COVID-19.”

Li Xiaoyu, 34, and Dong Jiazhi, 33

The prosecution was made by former students studying electronic engineering at university, Li Xiaoyu, 34, and Dong Jiazhi, 33.

So far, he has conspired to steal US trade secrets and communication fraud.

COVID-19 Research:

Regarding research on COVID-19, Britain, the US, and Canada accused Russian spies of trying to steal information on the 16th.

Supported by the Ministry of National Security of China (CMSS):

“The two are civilian hackers backed by the Chinese National Security Service (CMSS) and Chinese intelligence agencies,” US officials said.

The US prosecution claimed that the two had stolen hundreds of millions of dollars in trade secrets, intellectual property, and valuable business information since 2009.

To date, the countries targeted by companies include Australia, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

According to the complaint:

  1. British Artificial Intelligence (AI) companies,
  2. Spanish defense companies,
  3. It has been successful in invading Australian solar energy companies.

US charges two Chinese spies for a global hacking campaign that targeted COVID-19 research

U.S. prosecutors

have charged two Chinese nationals, said to be working for China’s state intelligence bureau, for their alleged involvement in a massive global hacking operation that targeted hundreds of companies and governments for more than a decade.

The 11-count indictment, unsealed Tuesday,

alleges Li Xiaoyu, 34, and Dong Jiazhi, 33, stole terabytes of data from high-technology companies, around the world — including the United States, the prosecutors said.

More recently, the prosecutors

accused the hackers of targeting the networks of over a dozen U.S. companies in Maryland, Massachusetts and California developing vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.

The indictment comes just weeks after both the FBI and Homeland Security warned that China was actively trying to steal U.S. research data related to the coronavirus pandemic.
