Fujifilm “Avigan”: Confirmed effectiveness
A new influenza drug, Avigan, developed by Fujifilm Group companies, has been confirmed in clinical trials to be effective.
Chinese pharmaceutical: Zhejiang Hai Zheng
Zhejiang Kaizheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. signed a license agreement with Fujifilm in 2016 for a license agreement for the active ingredient of Avigan ‘favipiravir’.
China National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority: Approved
Last month, Zhejiang Hai Zheng Pharmaceutical obtained approval from the Chinese State Drug Administration.
The company plans to mass-produce generic drugs in the future.
Avigan: clinical trial in China
The clinical trials were conducted at hospitals in Wuhan, Hubei and Shenzhen, Guangdong, with a total of 200 patients.
Patients who took the drug went from positive to negative in a short period of time, and symptoms of pulmonary inflammation improved.
Avigan has also been administered to patients since last month in Japan.
