British Airways Secures Biggest UK Pension Buy-in

The British Airways pension scheme moved its £4.4 billion (US$ 5.7 billion) in pension liabilities to Legal & General Group plc.

This transfer is affecting the Airways Pension Scheme.

According to a 2017 annual report, the Airways Pension Scheme had liabilities of £7.7 billion.

Covering over 22,000 pensioners, the bulk annuity deals aims to protect British Airways from higher pension costs, while capping its responsibilities.
