Reported possession of Berkshire, Synchrony shares – Expanding investment in the card industry.
According to documents submitted to the authorities on 14th, Berkshire had 17.5 million shares (approximately 520 million dollars = approximately 57 billion yen) of Synchrony stock as of the end of June. Mr. Buffett is the largest shareholder of American Express (Amex), which handles financing and settlement networks for credit card members. Berkshire also holds MasterCard and Visa shares in payment networks. Berkshire reduced shares held by American Airlines Group, Delta Airlines, United Continental Holdings, and sold all GE shares. Berkshire became a major shareholder at one time after investing in GE at the time of the financial crisis but had previously disposed of the majority of its holdings. Bloomberg
