AIST: Acquired important physical properties in the deep sea: Methane hydrate geological measurement

AIST: Acquired important physical properties in the deep sea: Methane hydrate geological measurement

-Development of technology for recovering methane hydrate from the ocean surface: Successful acquisition of important physical properties-

This survey: Overview

Analyzes of geological samples including methane hydrate (collected off the coast of Nihonkai Joetsu) while maintaining temperature and water pressure
First successful “compression test of massive natural methane hydrate”
Contributing to the evaluation of ground stability in the development of recovery technology for methane hydrate in the surface layer of the ocean floor

Future plan:

We will continue to utilize the “pressure core analysis technology” of AIST.

We will clarify “promising physical properties of the deep sea floor” that will be the subject of future development.

We plan to promote safe and efficient research that leads to proposals for resource recovery methods.
