Hitachi: shortened catheter treatment time and low exposure – Small ultrasonic transmitter

Time saving and low exposure to intravascular catheter treatment using ultrasonic diagnostic equipment

February 5, 2019

Hitachi:

developed a basic technology to detect the catheter tip position in a blood vessel using a small ultrasonic transmitter to shorten the time and reduce exposure to catheter treatment.

The ultrasonic diagnostic device is attached to the catheter, and its tip position is detected in real time.

Current catheter treatment

It is performed mainly by X-ray contrast while monitoring the position of the lesion and the tip of the catheter.

Using this technology, we can cope with lesions * which were difficult to detect with X-rays.
