According to the balance of payment statistics in Japan, receipt of royalties on intellectual property rights etc. from overseas increased by 74% compared to the cumulative total of five years ago in cumulative total from January to November 2017. As overseas expansion of companies advances, revenue sources are changing.
According to the Bank of Japan, the cumulative fee for intellectual property rights etc. rose from about January to November 2005 to about 4.4 trillion yen, which was significantly more than about 2.5 trillion yen in 12 years. According to the Treasury Department’s announcement on November 17, 2005, it was 604.4 billion yen, the second highest in a single month.
