China: JA Solar, Shin-Etsu Chemical gained patent for Ga addition: silicon crystals, wafers and cells

China: JA Solar, Shin-Etsu Chemical gained patent for Ga addition: silicon crystals, wafers and cells

JA Solar in China: (JA Solar Co., Ltd.)

Signed a license agreement with Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. on “Patents for Ga (gallium) -added silicon crystals, wafers and cells”.

Shin-Etsu Chemical:

We have obtained patents applicable to the manufacture of solar cell modules using P-type silicon in several countries.

JA Solar can use those patents under this patent license agreement.

Currently, light-induced degradation (LID) occurs in mainstream P-type silicon solar cell modules, which has long been a problem.

The application of this gallium addition technology will improve the LID problem.

With a P-type solar cell module, it is possible to “achieve more stable and higher power generation in the long term”.

JA Solar in China:

We are very grateful for a patent license agreement with Shin-Etsu Chemical.

This application of gallium doping technology will further improve the performance of JA Solar’s solar cell module products.
