TSMC:

It has become clear that TSMC in Taiwan has a policy of establishing a research and development base for advanced semiconductors in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

At the board of directors meeting on February 9, TSMC decided to “establish a wholly owned subsidiary in Japan.”

TSMC officials:

We plan to establish a research and development base for advanced semiconductor materials in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture by the end of this year.

It means “promoting research and development in collaboration with Japanese companies”.

Japanese goverment:

With the third supplementary budget this year, we are increasing the fund by 90 billion yen for the development of advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology.

Japan-Taiwan sources:

If there is a request from TSMC, “There is a possibility that this fund will be used to support it.”
