Chernobyl control room tours open, but radiation still high
Visitors are now permitted to enter the control room of Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Some of the decisions made in that room contributed to the worst nuclear accident the world has ever seen.
The control room was previously off-limits to tourists, who are only allowed to view certain spots in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
But Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky recently made Chernobyl an official tourist attraction in an attempt to change the area’s negative reputation.
