Toyota and Hino: Developed FCV heavy-duty truck: Over 15 tons class for North America

The company announced that it will jointly develop an FCV heavy-duty electric truck (FCET) for the North American market.

Heavy-duty electric truck: (FCET)

The jointly developed FCET will be provided by Hino in North America.

Hino’s new chassis “Hino XL” and
Combine with Toyota fuel cells.
A fuel cell vehicle (FCEV) is driven by a motor with electric power obtained by reacting hydrogen and oxygen.

Therefore, only water is discharged during running.

TMNA:

We provide trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 15 tons in the “Class 8” category.

A prototype vehicle will be developed and evaluated in the first half of 2021.

Toyota and Hino to Jointly Develop Class 8 Fuel Cell Electric Truck for North America

The companies
will leverage the newly developed Hino XL Series chassis with Toyota’s proven fuel cell technology to deliver exceptional capability without harmful emissions.

This collaboration
expands upon the existing effort to develop a 25-ton FCET for the Japanese market which was announced earlier this year.

The first demonstration vehicle
is expected to arrive in the first half of 2021.
