🚖Tesla sued for $2B for alleged semi-truck patent violations

On Tuesday, hydrogen electric-truck company Nikola Motor filed a suit seeking $2 billion in damages from Tesla on the grounds that the electric carmaker stole Nikola’s patented technology to help it develop its own electric semi truck.

Salt Lake City-based Nikola filed the suit in Arizona federal court, saying it received six design patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office between February and April 2018 for things such as the truck’s wraparound windshield, mid-entry door, fuselage, fender, side cladding and the overall design of the truck, which Nikola calls the Nikola One.
