Tata Steel Announcement:

On September 15, 2023, the company will jointly invest a total of 1.25 billion pounds (228.7 billion yen) in the Port Talbot Steelworks in the United Kingdom with the British government.

This is expected to be the largest ever investment in the British steel industry.

The UK government plans to subsidize up to 500 million pounds of the investment amount.

Supported by the UK Government:

Promote decarbonization by updating the infrastructure of the Port Talbot Steelworks facility.

Reduce UK-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 1.5%.

5,000 local jobs will be protected.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy: MNRE

On August 19, the definition of green hydrogen in India was notified in order to promote the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Definition of green hydrogen in India:

“Allowable CO2 emissions in well-to-gate” is stipulated.

The condition was that “2 kg or less be produced for every 1 kg of hydrogen produced.”

MNRE is responsible for the production process from raw material production to shipping.

drying,

including hydrogen compression;

Definition of green hydrogen:

The definition includes both electrolysis-based and biomass-based production methods.

MNRE will determine “methods for measuring, reporting, monitoring, on-site verification and certification of green hydrogen and its derivatives.”
