Sumitomo Forestry

This is the second case of tissue culture of old plum trees, following the 2015 Shinto tree in front of the main shrine of Kitano Tenmangu in Kyoto.

The grown bonbai saplings will be exhibited at the “Nagahama bonbai exhibition” scheduled to be held next spring.

In the 1960s, tissue culture techniques were developed in addition to traditional growth methods such as cuttings and grafting.

We have elucidated the conditions necessary for growth in tissue culture and succeeded in growing the precious Bonbai.
