Brookdale University Hospital Physicians Peer Review Position:
Study Inhaled Form Ivermectin for COVID-19
Now A group of physicians from Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York,
had their manuscript published in the peer review journal Cureus recently.
The team reminds all that with the advent of SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind COVID-91, the quest for a safe and effective therapy and vaccine intensifies,
and with the promise revealed
by the experiments at University of Monash the doctors suggest that research should look at an inhaled form of ivermectin, concentrated enough to ensure effective against SARS-CoV-2.
Although not documented, which isn’t totally true as TrialSite has chronicled several observational studies, and even one randomized controlled trial, the authors choose to ignore these except for the ICON study in Broward County.
Regardless, they suggest that the anthelminthic drug may have broad-spectrum antiviral properties, which could make it effective against viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2.
They emphasize a need to study ivermectin in an inhaled form and although TrialSite suggests these physicians could have dug a little deeper into studies in the developing world such as in
- Bangladesh,
- Argentina or for that matter,
- Egypt and Iraq,
they are on the right side of history here suggesting research proceed.
