We will carry out a demonstration experiment of innovative satellite technology toward the realization of 20 Gbps satellite-terrestrial communication.

NTT and JAXA:

Using JAXA’s satellite MIMO technology, we will demonstrate the 920MHz band / satellite IoT platform in orbit.

This theme is the first in the world:

Demonstration test of “low-orbit satellite MIMO technology”,
Demonstration test of “satellite sensing technology“,
We will work on the above practical application.

Implementation process:

20Gbps communication path between satellite and ground

In 2022, launch of a small demonstration satellite,
Conduct various demonstration experiments until 2023
Increased capacity of satellite-terrestrial communication (over 20 Gbps),

We aim to realize worldwide / low-cost sensing (ultra-wide area satellite IoT platform).

Background of development proposal:

We will combine IOWN / optical and wireless network technology with JAXA’s space system technology.

We are also engaged in joint research toward ultra-high-speed, large-capacity, secure optical and wireless communications.

This time “low orbit satellite MIMO technology”:

This time, the aim is to establish the basic communication technology for the satellite orbit demonstration.

We will perform a verification test in combination with 920MHz band / satellite sensing technology verification.
