Iwatani Corporation: Global liquefied hydrogen production bases: Strengthening in Japan and the United States
Iwatani Corporation:
To establish a manufacturing base of new liquefied hydrogen within three years prospect in the Kanto area.
The establishment policy was announced on March 18.
Japan: Iwatani’s liquefied hydrogen production base
Sakai City,
Chiba Prefecture,
Yamaguchi Prefecture,
This is the fourth location in the Kanto area.
Japan: Liquefied hydrogen production capacity:
Iwatani currently has an annual capacity of about 120 million cubic meters of liquefied hydrogen at its three bases.
When a new base is added, it is expected to increase by more than 30%.
Nuclear power plant nighttime power:
In collaboration with electric power companies such as Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., we will consider the construction of a hydrogen production base that utilizes nighttime electricity from nuclear power plants.
Mass imports from Australia:
Iwatani has already partnered with several companies to procure a large amount of CO2-free hydrogen from Australia.
We are working on building an import supply chain.
US: Contributes to FCV market expansion
A hydrogen station that contributes to the expansion of the FCV market.
Actively develop in the United States in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation.
USA: Hydrogen station
In San Francisco and Los Angeles
In collaboration with Toyota, 11 locations will be set up by the end of the year.
Also, I decided to build 20 new locations.
Japan: Hydrogen station
In Japan, 53 hydrogen refueling stations will be installed nationwide by the end of FY2008.
In FY 2009, we will invest 10 billion yen to create 20 more locations.

Iwatani Corporation of America and Toyota Collaborate to Bring Seven New Hydrogen Refueling Stations to Southern California

jointly announced today that Toyota will support Iwatani’s plans to significantly expand the number of open retail hydrogen fueling stations by nearly 25 percent in Southern California
and represents an increase of 6,300 kilograms per day of hydrogen fuel dispensing capacity.
Construction of the new stations
is anticipated to commence in early 2021 followed by commissioning of the first stations by midyear.
All seven stations
will be open to the public, providing hydrogen fuel to consumers in support of the rapidly growing demand for zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
