IMO · Environmental : Fuji Electric releases ship exhaust gas purification equipment – SOx: 0.5% (currently 3.5%)
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will control emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), one of the causes of air pollution.
The upper limit of the sulfur concentration of marine fuel is regulated to 0.5% (now 3.5%) in 2020, in all seas except the designated sea area * 1.
This regulation applies to all vessels regardless of new or existing ships.
Ship owner must switch to low sulfur component fuel or use marine exhaust gas purification device (SOx scrubber) after strengthening regulation.
We have developed an SOx scrubber that mixes seawater into the exhaust gas and reduces sulfur oxides in the exhaust gas.
“Ship exhaust gas purification system” was developed and today we will ship SOx scrubber from our Chiba factory for the first time.
