Australia GEV: To develop’compressed hydrogen ship’: C-H2 Ship

-Hydrogen transportation plan in Japan and Australia-

Australia
Global Energy Ventures (GEV)

We are developing a compressed hydrogen ship (C-H2 Ship).

C-H2 Ship:

Load green hydrogen at a pressure of 250 bar.

Assuming “a project to export from Australia to Asia and Europe”.

Expected to be used in the “Hy Energy Project”.

Global Energy Ventures (GEV):

GEV has obtained AIP (Basic Approval) from the American Ship Class Association (ABS).

With a loading capacity of 2000 tons
Two ship types with a loading capacity of 430 tons,
Used in large-scale commercial operations,

Obtained AIP from ABS:

GEV announced on October 6, 2021 that it has acquired AIP for a 430-ton compressed hydrogen vessel from ABS.

Obtain classification approval by the end of 2022.

It plans to start operations in the mid-2020s.

Originally designed circular tank:

The hull stores hydrogen under a pressure of 250 bar.

Equipped with two large circular tanks with a diameter of 12 m, which are uniquely designed.

A structure in which high-strength steel is layered around a stainless steel liner.
Hydrogen can enter the molecular structure of steel and prevent hydrogen embrittlement, which makes the steel brittle.

European marine manufacturer
Wärtsilä

Develop in collaboration with Wärtsilä.

It is equipped with a high-efficiency dual fuel (DF) engine that uses natural gas and hydrogen as fuel.
