Singapore’s GIC Backs Blockbuster Cineworld-Regal Merger
Singapore’s GIC Private Limited is reportedly going into show business alongside Cineworld Group Plc in a US$ 3.6 billion buyout of Regal Entertainment Group, which holds 18% of the box office market in the United States.
The UK-based cinema chain is arranging a £1.7 billion rights issue scheduled for February of 2018 to help fund the transaction, £200 million of which is likely to be bought by GIC, according to sources.
