Korean steel giant Posco announced on August 27 that it acquired Argentina’s lithium extraction right (originally owned by Australia Galaxy Resources).

It is the lithium mining right that occupies the northern half of Ombre Muerto Salt Lake (Salta State in northern Argentina, altitude of approximately 4,000 m).

The purchase price is $ 280 million. In May the two companies agreed to acquire.

Posco will establish a lithium manufacturing plant in Argentina for the stable supply of lithium to subsidiaries.

Production target of 20,000 tons per year for 20 years from 2021.
