Kinki Univ.: Recovering cell nuclei of mammoths-Observation-fossils of Siberian mammoth “Yuka”

Muscle tissue etc. were collected from the fossil of the mammoth “Yuka” that slept for 28,000 years in Siberian permafrost.
Furthermore, cell nuclei were extracted and recovered from muscle tissue.
As a result of transplanting a part of them into mouse ova, it was observed that “new cell nuclei were formed”.
