Pokémon GO developers opening ‘Real World’ AR engine for other game makers
The developer behind Pokémon GO, Niantic Labs, is looking to open its platform to third-party developers.
Specifically, it’s looking to open up its underlying AR platform to let developers create a similar experience within its own apps.
Niantic CEO John Hanke calls it the Real World Platform.
This is the same platform behind the aforementioned Pokémon GO, but also Ingress and the upcoming Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game, which is being developed alongside Warner Bros.
