RIKEN / Sensor: Innovative Electrocardiographic Measurement Device – Solar Cell Drive and Skin Paste Type
A collaborative research group of RIKEN – Emergent Materials Science Research Center has developed ‘skin-attached electrocardiogram measuring device’ driven by ‘ultra-thin organic solar cell’.
This research will lead to the realization of the next generation self-contained drive type sensor device such as constant monitoring of biological information.
: The energy conversion efficiency of the solar cell fabricated by the collaborative research group was 10.5%
: Flexible organic solar cell, world’s highest efficiency
At the same time, we succeeded in reducing light incident angle dependence.
: Establish technology to form “nanograting structure” on ultra-thin solar cells
Also, by driving the electrocardiography measurement device without external power supply, we got signals accurately.
: Reduce power consumption and load on wearing on the human body
This research will be published in the UK science magazine “Nature” (September 27 issue).
