Yokohama City University: Detect serum / antiviral antibodies in patient serum: COVID-19 / effective for pneumonia patients

Yokohama City University: Research Center for Advanced Medical Science

Summary of research results:

Effective for patients with pneumonia about 7 to 10 days after onset

No special equipment is required, and the possibility of virus infection can be checked in a short time with simple operation

Both are diagnostic methods that use blood, so samples are easy to collect, and the risk of secondary infection to healthcare workers at the time of sample collection is relatively low

A more accurate diagnosis can be made by using the PCR method together

Research Center for Advanced Medical Science: Professor Ryo Group

Conducted research on serologic diagnosis (antibody detection method) for 2019-nCoV infection (COVID-19).

The protein that makes up the coronavirus is prepared using the wheat-cell-free protein synthesis method * 3, a technique owned by Professor Ryo.

Using this protein, we succeeded in detecting IgG antibodies by serodiagnosis (ELISA and immunochromatography) of the new coronavirus.

Research Center for Advanced Medical Science: Kanto Chemical Co., Ltd.

In the future, we aim to construct kits in the form desired in clinical settings by combining this virus antigen protein with the reagent kit technology of Kanto Chemical Co., Ltd.
