Nippon Foundation: Collaboration with Deep Star: Chevron, Shell, Equinor
-Call for ideas for technology development projects (USA)-
This recruitment theme:
This reflects the high motivation for ESG investment by super majors participating in DeepStar.
In particular,
(1) Geothermal power generation (renewable energy) using the thermal energy of the oil reservoir
(2) Development of wind and tidal power generation facilities at offshore oil and gas production sites (renewable energy)
(3) Cost reduction of flammable gas removal and reinjection at production facilities (measures against global warming)
(4) Development of drift simulation method for spill oil by ocean current monitoring using drone (marine environment measures)
(5) Hydrogen-related technology
(6) Safety-related technologies including unmanned facilities and robotics
(7) Water treatment related technology
We are proposing collaboration with Japanese companies under a new theme.

Japan Foundation Ocean Innovation Consortium
Nippon Foundation
Signed MoU with Deep Star * in May 2018.
A Japanese company has set up a program to develop technology in collaboration with super majors around the world.
* Deep Star:
Chevron (USA),
Shell,
Equinor (Norway), etc.
Consortium for marine technology development
So far, we have solicited R & D projects for two terms, and currently 10 joint technology development projects are underway.
Themes after the 3rd term
Currently, we are coordinating with Deepstar about cooperation from the 3rd term onward.
“Renewable energy”,
With a new theme such as “environment”
We are looking for cooperation.
[Draft theme]
Companies interested in collaborative technology development with Deepstar are kindly requested to consider and propose technology development projects based on the following themes (drafts).
・ Geothermal generation by using high temperature in preserver (renewable energy)
・ Wind power / Ocean current power generation to supply offshore oil & gas production facilities (renewable)
・ Cost reduction technology for flammable gas removal and reinjection at production facilities (global warming)
・ Establishment of oil spill drift forecast simulation method by using local oceancurrent monitoring by aerial drone (marine environment)
・ Hydrogen related technologies
・ Safety related techs including NUF (normally unattended facilities) and robotics
・ Water treatment related technologies
