On June 3, it announced that it will issue a 5G commercial license to a major telecommunications carrier soon.
In cooperation with foreign companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Intel etc. in terms of technology development, 5G commercial infrastructure development (“People’s Daily” overseas edition June 4).
Guangdong Province: 5G Base Station
In line with the central government’s move, Guangdong Province is also making preparations for 5G commercialization at a rapid pace.
Guangdong Province: Industrial Information Technology Agency
In May 2018, the Guangdong Provincial Information Infrastructure Construction 3-Year Action Plan (2018-2020) was established.
As of May 25, 2019, the number of base stations in Guangdong Province reached 14,200, twice the initial target.
More than 90% are concentrated in Guangzhou City (7,100 locations) and Shenzhen City (6,390 locations) (see the “Southern Urban News” May 31, Appendix).
Korea: Science and technology information communication department
China launched commercial service in April 2019.
Currently, the number of 5G base stations in China has reached 85,000.
Guangdong Province is twice as large as Korea.
Guangdong Province will expand its 5G base stations to 170,000 by 2022 for commercialization of 5G.
