Mitsubishi Electric: ‘Ultra compact power unit’ and ‘High power density motor’ – For HV (HEV, PHEV)
Ultra compact power unit for hybrid vehicles
Using full SiC * 1 power semiconductor modules and high-density packaging technology,
Output Capacity · Out of the 400 kVA models, the world’s smallest · 2.7 L volume and the world’s highest · Power density of 150 kVA / L was realized
“Hybrid vehicle (HEV, PHEV) * 3, ultra small power unit” was developed.
High power density motor
Using an asymmetric rotor structure,
the world’s highest class * 4 output density and developed “high power density motor” of 23 kW / L.
Improve freedom of installation in the vehicle and increase the space inside the car, improving fuel economy.
This developed technology is also applicable to electric vehicles (EV ※ 5).
Development features
1 Developed power unit for hybrid vehicles with world’s smallest volume of 2.7 L and world’s highest power density of 150 kVA / L
· By using our full SiC power semiconductor module applying high density mounting and high frequency driving utilizing SiC’s high-speed switching characteristics, we can significantly reduce the size of parts in the power unit
· World’s smallest volume of 2.7 L as power unit, achieving the world’s highest power density of 150 kVA / L
2 High torque concentrated winding motor achieves the world’s highest class power density of 23 kW / L
· By adopting the asymmetric rotor structure, increase the rotational torque in the forward direction, increase the power density with the concentrated winding * 6 motor
· Highly efficient cooling structure adopts magnet with high magnetic performance
