Thailand: 5,856 Japanese companies enter the market: 412 more than the previous survey

On March 29, the “Thailand Japanese Company Advancement Trend Survey 2020” was announced.
The survey will be conducted for the fourth time in about three and a half years since October 2017.
Number of Japanese companies in Thailand:
This time, there are 5,856 Japanese companies whose activities have been confirmed in Thailand.
This was an increase of 412 companies compared to 5,444 companies in the previous survey.
By Industry:
1st place “Manufacturing industry (2,344 companies)”
2nd place “Wholesale / Retail (1,486 companies)”
3rd place “Service industry (1,017 companies)”
Manufacturing industry
It was almost flat with 2,346 companies last time, and became 2,344 companies.
Wholesale / retail
The number increased by 126 from 1,360 last time to 1,486 (1,392 wholesalers and 94 retailers).
Service industry
The number of companies increased by 121 from 896 last time, and exceeded 1,000 for the first time.
Japanese shareholders:
The ratio of the number of companies invested by large companies is 47.6% of the total,
SME and individual ratio is 52.4% in total,
It has increased from the previous time and continues to account for the majority.
Office location:
95% of the total was concentrated in the surrounding 10 prefectures including Bangkok, and Bangkok accounted for 53%.
