JETRO: World FTA database released: FTA / EPA, WTO –By purpose

JETRO:
On March 4, the latest list of global free trade agreements (FTAs) was compiled and the database was released for the first time.
JETRO publishes FTA information collected by overseas offices every year.
Published FTA database:
This is the first time to create a database.
Agreements that have not been reported to the WTO
FTAs before they come into effect
It is posted as much as possible.
However, a database that can be searched in Japanese.
World FTAs: (See Attachment)
The total number of “FTAs that have been put into effect as of the end of January this year” is 357.
December 2019 ・ 37 cases increased from the time of the previous survey.
Brexit:
The UK’s Brexit transition period is over.
A new FTA has come into effect between the EU, countries and economies that have FTAs, and the United Kingdom.
This is the main factor that pushed up the number of cases.
The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Japan and the United Kingdom also came into effect on January 1, 2021.
Signing FTA / RCEP Agreement:
With 10 ASEAN member countries in November 2020
Japan,
China,
Korea,
Australia,
new Zealand,
The RCEP agreement in which 15 countries participate is also posted.
It is also Japan’s first EPA to connect with China and South Korea.
Attention will be focused on “Trends of domestic ratification of each participating country”.

This database utilizes a network of 76 overseas offices in 55 countries.
Information on FTAs that have been put into effect around the world,
Organized by country / region and age group.
The process leading to the entry into force,
The content of the promises of the Parties,
Significance for Japanese companies, etc.
A searchable database.
Agreements that have not been notified to the WTO and FTAs in the negotiation stage before they come into effect are also posted as much as possible.
