MODEC: a deep-sea FPSO dredger project for the Brazilian offshore pre-salt layer Buzios

Mitsui Ocean Development Co., Ltd. (MODEC) is promoting a long-term chartering business based on FPSO in the Búzios Block offshore Brazil.
The four companies have agreed that Mitsui, MOL and Marubeni will invest in this project.
A related agreement was concluded on November 12.
MODEC: Dutch company Buzios5 MV32 B.V .: “MV32 company”
Under this agreement, Mitsui & Co., MOL and Marubeni will invest in Buzios5 MV32 B.V.
MV32 has signed a 21-year long-term chartering contract with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras: Brazilian oil company) on September 24, 2019.
Overview of FPSO: Almirante Barroso MV32
The FPSO for this project will be named “FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32”.
It will be introduced in 2022 in the development of the “Buzios Block in the Santos Basin off Brazil”.
Buzios Block:
The mining area is located about 180km southeast of Rio de Janeiro.
A part of the subsea oil field in the pre-salt layer (a layer just below the rock salt layer) about 5,000m below the sea bed.
The FPSO for this project will be moored at a depth of about 1,900m.
