JAXA: ‘Measurement of Adhesion’ New Method Development: Evaluation of Epoxy Adhesion

JAXA:

A new method for measuring the adhesive strength of epoxy adhesives has been newly developed.

We confirmed that “the covalent bond that is the source of adhesive strength is reduced by salt contamination.”

Scanning electrochemical microscope: (SECM)

Quantitative evaluation by scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM),
Visualization method by fluorescent staining,
And so on.

Contributes to quantitative evaluation of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) adhesion and the like.

Fields of use:

we will collaborate with chemical companies that handle adhesives, assembling and manufacturing industries.
Plans to introduce it into manufacturing process inspections and develop a contamination visualization kit.
We will also formulate guidelines for using adhesives and standardize international standards.
