Japan Youkai: “Youkai、From Kyoto ” Exhibition: Picture scrolls and ukiyo-e

Exhibition of the youkai collection in the collection

It started on October 15th at the Miyoshi Mononoke Museum in Hiroshima.

Special Exhibition: “Youkai from Kyoto”

Yumoto, Honorary Director of the Miyoshi Mononoke Museum also attended.

This is the first time that the youkai-related academic materials held by Nichibunken have been released outside of Kyoto City.

During the period, about 150 items such as picture scrolls and ukiyo-e will be exhibited while exchanging materials.

Youkai Material:

“Hyakuki no Yakou Emaki”:
Five items are on display for comparison.

Even in the same scene, you can see that there are differences in expressiveness and youkai that appear depending on the author.

“Inao Family Youkai Scroll”:
A story of a youkai that is handed down in Miyoshi.

This is the first publicly available material recently collected by Nichibunken.
