🚖Tesla 2018 Annual Shareholder Meeting
Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting held on Tuesday June 5th 2018 gave us some interesting updates about the company’s progress in its mission “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”
Other technical highlights from the meeting included:
Model 3 is already the highest selling midsize premium sedan in the US as of May 2018
Further significant improvement to autopilot software coming within the next week
Further improvements to both the Telsa Semi and the next generation Roadster over specs given in 2017
Both auto and energy products aiming for 20-30% margins in the 2019 time-frame
Reiterating an approximate model Y reveal date of March 2019, with production commencing in H1 2020
More details on China Gigafactory to be formally released ‘very soon’, and Europe location announcement late 2018
Up to 12 Gigafactories ultimately (combined battery, drive-train and vehicle production)
Aiming for 50% improvement in worker safety over the auto industry average (currently 6% better)
A pathway to 30% improvement in battery cell gravimetric energy density over the next 2 years
A planned pathway to a 3x to 4x improvement in Supercharging times over the longer term
A pathway towards drive time to recharging time ratio on long trips of 6:1, later 8 or 10:1 (currently around 4.5:1)
A pathway to 400 mile range (likely EPA rated range) being available as an option in non-roadster modelsQuick Highlights
