We plan to produce the world’s first engine with Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD).
The Hyundai Motor Group announced the mass production of the engine on July 2nd.
Prior art: Variable valve control
CVVT: Continuously Variable Valve Timing method to adjust valve opening and closing timing.
CVVL: Continuously Variable Valve Lift method by controlling the lift amount of the valve when opening the valve.
The prior art can not control until the opening and closing time of the valve.
This time CVVD technology:
It is possible to control the opening and closing time of the valve according to the operating conditions.
This new technology improves engine performance by 4% and fuel efficiency by 5%.
It is expected to reduce exhaust gas by 12%.
New engine: Smartstream (Smartstream) G1.6 T-GDi (V-type 4-cylinder, 180 hp, maximum torque 27.0 kg)
Production will begin at the HMMA in mid-October of 2019, and will be installed in the “2020 sonata”.
