Shenzhen city: withdrawal of leading manufacturers one after another: Olympus, Samsung Electronics

Shenzhen City Government:

June 26 “Shenzhen City · SME development status special report 2018” was submitted to the Shenzhen City People’s Congress Standing Committee,

With the rise in factory rent and labor costs, and stricter environmental regulations, there were 192 companies that moved factories from Shenzhen to inland and surrounding China from 2016 to 2018.

Besides apparel (labor-intensive SMEs), there are cases of large electric and electronics related high-tech companies.

The report points out the need for response (“Shenzhen Satellite TV” June 27th, “Southern City Report” June 27th).

Leading manufacturer: Withdrawal one after another (see table)

According to a special report, industrial enterprises (more than a certain size) withdrew from Shenzhen in 2018 account for 1.1% of the number of registered enterprises in Shenzhen (91 companies).

The production amount reached 59,970 million yuan (approximately 95,95 billion yen, 1 yuan = approximately 16 yen) which becomes 2% of the whole city.
