South Korea: Domestic production of important weapon parts: KF-21, KSS-III, K2 tank

Korea Defense Acquisition Program Administration:
On August 10, the open call for participants for the “2021 2nd Domestic Production of Parts Support Project” was started.
Korea’s domestic production support project is a project to replace imported parts with domestic products among the important parts used in weapon systems.
Themes to be recruited this time:
Fighter KF-21:
Development of damage detection sensor for Korean fighter KF-21
KSS-III type submarine:
Development of mast parts for KSS-III submarines,
K2 Tank Diesel Engine:
Includes development of diesel engine controls for K2 tanks.
Mast parts for KSS-III submarines:
In particular, KSS-III type submarine mast parts manufacturing technology relies entirely on imports from overseas.
If it succeeds in domestic production, the import substitution effect will amount to 300 billion won.
Selected Korean companies:
We will support a part of the development cost (Note) for up to 5 years, up to 10 billion won (1 billion yen) per theme.
