Subaru to Recall Impreza, Crosstrek, and Forester
Subaru says it plans to issue a voluntary recall of 1.3 million vehicles in the U.S. because in certain situations in some cars and SUVs, the brake lights do not illuminate as expected, even though the brakes are working properly.
The vehicles: 2008 to 2016 Impreza cars, and 2013 to 2017 Crosstrek and 2014 to 2016 Forester SUVs.
The problem: The safety concern stems from the use of consumer products containing silicone that can seep into the brake lamp switch housing and deposit a layer on the switch contact. If the contact switch loses conductivity to the terminal, it may result in the rear brake lights not illuminating.
