NEDO: Power system stabilization in Poland: Smart grid demonstration project

In March 2017, NEDO signed an MOU for the “Smart Grid Demonstration Project” in Poland with the Ministry of State Assets.

At the same time, Hitachi, Ltd./Hitachi Chemical / Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation will promote business with three companies: Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A / ENERGA-OPERATOR S.A./Energa OZE S.A.

The verification period is scheduled for three and a half years, and we have been conducting field surveys, equipment design, equipment manufacturing and transportation, installation and trial operation.

Special Protection Scheme: Completed installation

NEDO has recently completed the introduction of Japan’s unique technology, the System Stabilization System (Special Protection Scheme), together with these contractors and cooperating companies, and started demonstration operation jointly with the Polish Ministry of National Property on October 1st. .

Future plans:

Hitachi, Hitachi Chemical, and Energa Renewable Energy are working together to install another theme, “Battery Energy Storage System for Wind Power Generation”.

After installation is complete, a “hybrid storage battery system combining a high-power lithium-ion battery and a large-capacity lead storage battery” will be used in combination with the grid stabilization system.

In the future, we will verify the “utilization of reserve power and utilization for overloading transmission lines”.
