COVID-19: World layoffs, May 6: Uber Tech, Airbnb, Gold ’s Gym

Uber Technologies
San Francisco-based Uber will terminate 3,700 employees, or about 14% of its 26,900 employees. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi will forgo his base salary for the rest of the year.
Airbnb
Airbnb is laying off a quarter of its staff. Airbnb would terminate about 1,900 of its 7,500 staff members.
Nutanix
San Jose, California-based Nutanix, Inc., a cloud computing company, is furloughing a total of 1,465 employees in California, representing nearly 25% of the company’s worldwide headcount,
Cardone Industries
Auto parts manufacturer Cardone Industries is terminating 183 workers from its Brownsville facility on Paredes Line Road.
Gold’s Gym International
Dallas-based Gold’s Gym International filed for financial restructuring through Chapter 11, affecting only the corporate entity. The filing is for the corporate entity and does not involve franchisees, who make up the majority of Gold’s Gym locations. Gold’s Gym International is owned by TRT Holdings.
Hand Sanitizer
The Indian government banned the export of alcohol-based sanitizers, according to a government statement.
