COVID-19: US Government Gives CIADM 28 Billion Yen Support: Fuji Film Entrusts

July 27, announced that the US Department of Health and Human Services has signed a $265 million contract with CIADM of Texas A & M University to expand production of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnology, Inc., a US subsidiary of Fujifilm, Inc., which was visited, announced at the North Carolina base.
Center for Innovation in Advanced Development & Manufacturing (CIADM)
CIADM is a member of the State of Texas Emerging Technology Fund of Texas A & M University, a private company, and the State of Texas Emerging Technology Fund, owned by the US Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. A facility established in 2012 by investment.
In response to threats such as infectious diseases, it is responsible for the rapid research and development and manufacturing of pharmaceuticals.
Vaccine development and manufacturing operations
The development and manufacturing operations of CIADM’s drugs and vaccines are contracted by Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnology, a contract manufacturer.
“Operation Warp Speed”
Through this agreement, the US government secured the necessary production capacity for vaccines developed in the new coronavirus vaccine development project “Warp Speed Operation” at CIADM by the end of 2021.
Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnology (FDB)
One of the development projects supported by the operation is FDB’s business of providing vaccine drug substances to US biotechnology company Nova Bucks (Maryland).
FDB plans to complete investment to increase production in Texas by this fall.
FDB will begin transferring technology from North Carolina to Texas in the second half of 2020.
Mass production of vaccine candidates is scheduled to start in early 2021.

“If the trial is completed successfully, the vaccine will be generally available mid-to-late 2021,” said Texas TX Local Broadcaster KBTX article on July 28.
