🚖Development of lightweight, highly rigid door structure made of steel using JFE steel and fiber reinforced resin

~ Multimaterialization technology ~

Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (hereinafter “Mitsubishi Chemical”) jointly studied the weight reduction of automotive doors utilizing fiber reinforced resin and developed a lightweight and highly rigid door structure.

In order to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy, needs for body weight reduction are increasing. In some automobiles, low density materials such as aluminum are applied mainly to lid parts such as doors.

Therefore, we developed a lightweight, highly rigid door structure made of steel combining steel excellent in cost and press formability and light weight and high rigidity fiber reinforced resin.
