Toyoda Gosei: Next-gen rubber 、expands electrically ‘e-Rubber’: Transmits emotions and touch
Toyoda Gosei: Next Gen Rubber “e-Rubber”
Next-generation rubber ‘e-Rubber’ that expands and contracts by electricity was exhibited at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show 2019.
The next demonstration will be demonstrated using the next-generation rubber “e-Rubber” that expands and contracts electrically.
Various tactile sensations are reproduced: “Commu-Touchpad”,
Realizing remote sharing by tactile sense; “Commu-Beat”
Next generation rubber ‘e-Rubber’:
Made based on the supramolecular material “slide ring material” invented by Professor Kozo Ito of the University of Tokyo.
‘E-Rubber’ is a supramolecular material in which the crosslinking point (an important factor governing the physical properties of vulcanized rubber) moves freely.
A material supply from Advanced Soft Materials (ASM), Toyoda Gosei designed and developed the material.
Dielectric rubber: Utilizing elasticity
Dielectric rubber is a stretchable electrode. When structural voltage is applied, the dielectric rubber expands and contracts.
As a next-generation power source (actuator), it can be applied to artificial muscles.
It also functions as a tactile / pressure sensor by converting the pressure applied to the electrodes into an electrical signal.
A wide range of applications are possible in the medical field.
Emotional expression: “Commu-Touchpad”
Commu-Touchpad expresses emotions by tactile changes caused by rubber movement
Tactile expression: Remote sharing “Commu-Beat”
Realize tactile remote sharing.
e-Rubber uses the “change in electric capacity that occurs when touched” as a sensor.
