Komatsu: Anti-personnel landmine removal activities

From November 25 to 29, 2019, the 4th Review Conference on Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention was held in Oslo, Norway.

Japan Komatsu and the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs are conducting anti-personnel landmine removal activities in Cambodia and Laos.

Japan’s antipersonnel landmine removal activities:

The anti-personnel mine removal activities of the Japan Non-Profit Organization “Mine Disposal Support Association (JMAS)” will be introduced.

It is an international conference by 164 countries with anti-personnel mine ban treaties.

This is a meeting where government agencies and NGOs from all over the world meet to discuss landmine issues.

Komatsu and JMAS:

We have partnered since 2008 to conduct “regions suffering from anti-personnel landmine damage” and “unexploded bomb removal activities”.

End of September 2019: Activity results

In total, more than 5,700 antipersonnel mines and unexploded cluster submunitions were processed.

Ten elementary schools were constructed and 70 km of roads were constructed / maintained.
