Germany: Toshiba orders 50 hybrid locomotives: Deutsche Bahn / DB Cargo AG
-Toshiba Enters Hybrid Locomotive Market in Europe-

Toshiba Infrastructure Systems:
Toshiba Railway Europe GmbH (TRG) has received an order from Deutsche Bahn, DB / DB Cargo AG and DBC for a Diesel-Electric Hybrid Locomotive (design, manufacture and supply contract for 50 vehicles).
Production will take place at DBC’s Rostock plant and production preparations will begin in 2021.

This is a hybrid locomotive that uses the power / battery power generated by the diesel generator.
The drive system of output 750kW is carried.
battery:
Equipped with “SCiB ™”, a 120kWh lithium-ion secondary battery developed by the Company.
Main motor:
Uses a highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with a rated efficiency of 97%.
High performance, reduced emissions:
Reduces emissions by more than 30% compared to locomotives equipped with conventional diesel engines only.
